Finally a Place to Call Home!

The search for a place continues.  After over a month of searching for a place to live I finally found one that I can see myself living at.  A few weeks ago my friend Kiley and I looked at a place that had everything.  Right across the street from the beach.  5 blocks away from work and the main part of surfers as well as an awesome living environment.

Unfortunatelythe room was given to someone else.  After finding that out I pretty much gave up hope and just assumed that I was going to be in the hostel for the next 5 months, it wasn't that terrible right?  I just kept trying to tell myself that.  Anyways about 5 days ago I got a text from the girl who lives in the apartment telling me that the girl that took it is moving out after only living there a week and wanted to know if we wanted it.

uhhhh,,,ya.  SCORE!

Anyways we moved in on Sunday and are really starting to get settled in here.  We are paying 150 a week to share a room (about the norm for this area) including all utilities and wifi.  Also there is a washer and dryer, our own bathroom, really nice living area, a mattress to die for, and because it's a holiday resort complex we have the usual....2 pools, sauna, spa, gym and secured entry.  nbd.

Besides the point, it gives me the extra boost to get a board and go surfing (I can see the beach from my living room, no excuses). So I can embarrass myself all the time instead of every once in a while.

My new official Australian address is

305/28 Northcliffe Terrace
Surfers Paradise
QLD 4217
Australia

Send me stuff!!! hahahah jk, but seriously.

And I promised pictures!! Here ya go!

You can see the beach through the buildings there (this is from the front balcony)

MovieWorld

My postings have been few and far between, my apologies.  I honestly didn't believe that anyone would be interested to hear 'had to work again today, did nothing else' for quite some time until my mother begged me to post something, anything.

After well over two weeks of me being whipped into shape at work I finally managed to beg my manager to give me a day off.  At that point all I wanted to do with sleep anyways, but since that is an impossible task to do living at a hostel I figured I might as well do something worth while.

Having purchased a Summer Pass for the theme parks in the area my friends Selen, Josh and I decided to take a trip down to WarnerBro. Movie World.  The pass is 100 bucks and gets you unlimited access to MovieWorld, Sea World and Wet n' Wild.  Nice.  The weather was perfect and despite the terribly hot packed bus ride out there the day was as well.

We had a fun filled day of fast roller coasters, water rides, stunt car driving shows, mexican food (actually impossible to find around these parts) and Scooby Doo.  Lots of Scooby Doo.  We went on that ride twice, in a row.  Yes, we are all in our 20's, don't judge.  And we got a picture with the gang.  No big deal.

Not much to say otherwise, other than it is nearly impossible to describe in words how nice it was to have a day off work after 2 and a half weeks.  Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my job, love my managers, love my co workers and everything, but that is just way too much.  Won't complain about the money however.

Here are some more pictures to fill the need.

Superman...the fastest ride EVER.  Seriously

The first ride we went on for the day. Lethal Weapon

Ran into some friends of ours

Wild Wild West ride, it was SOO nice to go on the water ride because it was so hot that day

We caught a Batman show.

How sick is the Bat-mobile.  It actually drove too. So awesome

The stunt car driver show.  It was actually REALLY impressive.  They were pro drivers from the states

They did a whole figure 8 like that! So crazy

A Little Update

I've been putting off writing something for a while because there really isn't anything to write.  I've been working a lot of hours which is good.  Tuesday will be my first day off in 2 and a half weeks so I'm pretty exhausted.  It's good for my bank account though, but not so good for my social life.  It's been really difficult to feel like I'm enjoying myself while working so much.  I do love my job and everyone I work with so it makes it bearable, but I haven't really gotten to do anything.  The last few weeks I've had to work on Sunday mornings even so I haven't gotten to play football on the beach with my friends.  A few weeks ago I took a picture of some of the guys so that you can see them!

Left to Right: Johny (Canadian), Ed (English), Mark, Gibo and Trent (Aussies)

Also I know mom asked me to take some pictures of my shop and abouts where I work so I did that as well.
Kind of the main street.  Right through those trees is the beach

Other view, looking inland

Outside of my shop, you can see it in the background in that first picture as well

Doorway

Inside and to the left, There is Sam hard at work. lol

Inside to the right, you can see the stairs leading upstairs to the girls clothing

Me hard at work, obviously

The beach at Surfers, packed on a Saturday

Looking for a place to live has been a completely different story.  I feel as thought I'll never find a place.  It's difficult because I really do want to live near the beach, even if that means living outside Surfers.  Ideally I would live in Broadbeach or even on the south side of Broadbeach (you can google it, it's just south of Surfers) because it's out of the super big city, but there are still things around.  Everything is so expensive though it's been really difficult to find a place that is priced well, but still where I want to be.  I've found a few places and have looked at them, but they aren't by the beach and I figure if I'm going to be half way across the world then I might as well live where I want to live and not settle just because it's the first place I find.  A guy that I work with has a place in Burleigh which is WAY far away (about a 30 minute bus ride).  It's reasonably priced and he's a pretty cool guy so I'm hoping that it works out.  The only thing I'm nervous about is being so far away and feeling stranded because I don't know anyone.  I'll have to check it out and see how I feel about it.  At the same time I've been in surfers for a while now, I've done the whole go out thing and I'm really just not that into it.  Burleigh is gorgeous and it might be a nice change of pace, especially since I work in Surfers so I'm still there pretty much everyday.  It would be really expensive for a bus pass, like 60 bucks every two weeks or so.  So I'll have to figure out if it's worth it.  I wish there could just be someone who could just straight up tell me what to do.  I really don't like this whole 'haven't got a clue about what I'm doing with my life' thing.

Obviously it's still awesome here, the weather is starting to get really nice and it's hardly ever cloudy or rainy, except for today of course the one day that I didn't have to work until 5, go figure.  Schoolies is starting to come up which is basically like the equivalent of spring break for college kids, but for high schoolers.  All the high school kids get out for the summer and flock to the Gold Coast where they go crazy and run a muck.  Goodie.  haha We asked corporate if we could close down the store early to try to deter the kids from all the stealing that usually happens, I don't think we've heard back yet, but I hope they let us.

Other than that it's just been the same as always,  I'm going to a theme park on Tuesday for my first day off.  I'm really excited to go out and do something! I'm also going to start planning my traveling for after my time on the Gold Coast.  That's when the blogging really gets exciting!!!

Missing home!
