Wow. Apologies for being absolutely terrible at updating this thing. I can't believe I haven't even wrote anything since Thanksgiving. Quick update for everyone that I haven't spoken to in a while.
At the beginning of December, a few mates from the hostel and I packed up a couple cars and headed to Brisbane to celebrate the creation of amazing music and some bad stuff as well. Stereosonic is a huge music festival that travels around Australia every year. This year along with countless dj's I have never heard of another group was showing up. If anyone knows me they know I love LMFAO and they know I would do anything to see them live. I was so excited that they were playing and to me it was the main event of the day. That was, until I realized that even looking between the shoulders of the hundreds people in front of me, I was not going to be able to see the stage. Thanks for the short jeans mom and dad. A lovely lad offered to take pictures of the stage for me so that I will have some sort souvenir. Very nice of him. All in all a pretty fun day!!! We got to dance a bunch and had a lot of fun with my friends.
The next day everyone else left and I stayed in Brisbane for another day and a half to visit with my friend Andy from Scotland. We walked around the city and Andy showed me a few bits and then we met up with our other friend from camp Sando at a local pub. One drink turned into 7 or 8 and before we knew it the night was gone and we had completely embarrassed ourselves at the pub trivia game that was taking place that night. Shocking right?? lol
Anyways it was my first trip to Brisbane and all I had heard was all this great stuff from Andy about how it was the best city ever and blah blah blah. It was a big city and had all the typical big city feel to it. Not sure how I feel about it yet, I'm not usually a big city person. I might go back up there for a day or two and maybe I will change my mind.
Moving on!
A few weeks later, Kiley and I both didn't have to work until the afternoon and we were bored, so we decided to go to SeaWorld for the day. I've never been to a SeaWorld before, but it was AWESOME!!! We saw penguins, sharks and STINGRAYS!! So cool! They had this big pool where you can pet stingrays! How awesome is that?? The fins are really really soft and slimy and then the head is kind of scratchy and rough. And they were having a feeding time later that afternoon where you can pay like 9 bucks and get some fish to feed them! You hold the fish under the water between your fingers and they swim over you and suck the fish out of your hand. It was amazing, I want to do it everyday! haha Stingrays are my new favorite sea creature. lol. Kiley got some awesome pictures of me feeding them, but she took them on some high tech camera that she has to have her computer to format it or something silly, so I won't be seeing those for like a year. Boo.
Anyways we got the bus back and before I started work Kiley and I got in line to take a picture with Santa! After all it was Chrissie!! And let me tell you, he was a legit Santa!! He told me he was rated top 12 Santas in the world!!! That's so crazy!! Real beard, real long hair, real coat, the real deal. Those lovely pictures can also be found on my facebook profile. I'll see if I can get the slowest computer ever created (aka mine) to load them onto this blog to save you the time and trouble.
Last, but not least Christmas aka Chrissie. It was unavoidable no matter how much it didn't feel like a holiday at all. They still listen to the typical christmas carols and stuff which is weird because there are no white christmas or chestnuts roasting on an open fire or sleigh bells through the snow. I mean it was like 80 degrees for goodness sake!!! What kind of Chrissie weather is that?? Well I refused to be alone since I was having emotional breakdowns almost everyday of the week approaching Christmas day. So I had my friend Jen come over for a bbq. It was Kiley, Jen and I enjoying Chrissie together outside by the pool. We had kababs, steak, watermelon, potato salad, coleslaw, chips, dinner rolls and all sorts of goodies. Quite a delicious meal if I do say so myself.
In the morning we went down to a town about 20 minutes away to see the waves that were coming in. They were supposed to be really big, about 10 feet or so. There were so many people out and about to check out the waves and even a few brave souls tried to catch one or two. Then back home had the bbq and just hung out the rest of the day. Getting to skype with everyone back home was really hard on me but it was good to see that everyone was together and having a good time.
Sooooo...that has been my life the last month. I've been working like crazy. The store manager of my shop is going on holiday so I've become an opener and closer at the shop so I'll be working like 40 hours a week with only 1 day off a week. Tiring, but totally worth it money wise, plus I absolutely love my job so that is always a good thing as well.
I'll try to be updating this in between days off. Planning a trip to Australia Zoo here in the next few weeks so you will absolutely be hearing about that!!

A Real Thanksgiving
The title pretty much says it all. You can't be an American and not celebrate Thanksgiving, no matter where you are. It's just not acceptable. I decided that I need to have a gathering of some of my friends so make me feel a little bit better about not being at home with my family.
It was 3 days of planning, shopping, soaking (the beans), cooking, mashing, mixing and running around like a chicken with my head cut off. The line up? Keep in mind everything is from scratch, only the best here.
Chicken (turkey is RIDICULOUSLY expensive here,30 bucks for a turkey smaller than a chicken!!)
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Black Beans and Rice
Salad
Dinner Rolls
Pumpkin Pie with whipped cream
Stuffing
Gravy (of course)
The dinner party included Kiley Tanya and I plus Asa (from camp), Amy (from the hostel), plus a bunch of boys that I play football with. There ended up being about 10 or 11 of us which was a good group. We moved down to the bbq area by the pool which has two tables we were able to push together and could all sit down like a proper meal. Everything turned out delicious and was a big hit!! Even though most of the people at the table don't really know anything about how Thanksgiving is supposed to go, I'm sure they enjoyed the opportunity to have a good meal. I could even taste my dad's black beans!!! That's a good sign that I'm probably on the right track for making those! I'll have another chance to perfect the art at Christmas!! Can't wait!
Look out Dad and Uncle Danny! You have another competitor in the black bean taste competition!! And I'm out for blood! hahaha
Even the pumpkin pie was a hit. And yes, I actually cooked that from scratch as well. Apparently canned pumpkin is a REALLY weird thing to have here. I had to find an actual pumpkin and boil it and mash it and stuff, but with enough brown sugar and maple syrup it covers up the taste anyways. It was delicious!! Lots of leftovers and chicken sandwichs were left to be had. Just like a real holiday.
It made me miss everyone so much. I got to skype with the fam for a bit, but it was weird that there was hardly anyone there. I don't like the fact that people are growing up, getting married, moving on and we aren't being all together and having the huge holidays like we used to. When did that change? I don't like change...panicking...breath breath. Pretty soon it's going to be all the old timers (aka the parents) and the baby (aka me) and everyone is going to be off with their new families....whhhaaaa?????
Back to a happy note!! Here are some pictures..hope you already ate today cuz your about to get hungry!!
The pictures are acting really funny. These are the only few I could get to look decent. I'll try again later
